Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) – Nursery

At Foston Primary School’s Nursery we pride ourselves on offering nurturing, rich, safe yet stimulating environment in which all children will flourish and reach their full potential through our immersive family approach. The children are independent learners, and seen as individuals, their needs are identified and responded to do through our individual next steps to challenge themselves, sparked from their own interests, to ignite an enthusiasm for learning about the world through the play-based approach. This ensure the children in the early years make good progress across all areas of the curriculum (Ofsted, 2020).

How children are welcomed into our environment

Once they have turned three and are ready to start, we will offer you half day taster session each week until the term after their third birthday. This helps your child to settle into the environment and begin to build relationships with our Early Years team before starting properly. Once started, parents are welcome to stay in a morning until their child has settled, supported by our staggered start to the school day between 8:50am-9am. Through regular communications between staff and parents/ carers we can assure you how your child is settling. Parents from our school agree with Ofsted stating ‘Early Years staff work closely with parents to ensure they feel listened to. They are confident that their children are being well looked after.’
