Young Voices 2025
We are delighted to be able to offer a group of children (KS2) the amazing opportunity to take part in the 'Young Voices' concert at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield. The choir will perform on Wednesday 12th February 2025 at 7pm.
‘Young Voices’ is the world’s largest children’s choir concert and, by taking part, the children will rehearse, and perform, a wide variety of songs and dance moves to a packed concert arena alongside their peers, children from other schools and incredible artists. It has just been announced that Natalie Williams will be one of the artists performing with the ‘Young Voices’ choir, and Urban Strides street dancers will, once again, choreograph routines for the children to perform. The ‘Young Voices’ concerts are a magical and unforgettable experience for all of the children involved.
The songs are now available to listen and sing along to at home. I have uploaded the lyrics and videos.
Rehearsals for ‘Young Voices’ will take place and will be confirmed in the individual schools. In the rehearsal sessions, the children will learn, through the ‘Young Voices’ songs, about singing technique, singing in parts, how to sing in different styles and how to perform to an audience.
Summary of the day:
- 11:00/11:30am – Children will set off on the bus
- Arrival -1:00pm - Venue doors open to school 12:45pm
- 1:00pm – 2:00pm – Packed lunches
- 2.00pm - 5.00pm - Rehearsals start
- 5:00pm-6:30pm – Time to eat and we need to return to our seats by 6:30pm
- 7.00pm - 8.45pm - Your Young Voices Concert!
- 8:45pm – The children will go back to school on the bus.
- Rough arrival of 10:30pm at the schools.

We heavily subsidise the cost of the coach and 'Young Voices' sign up fee but there are some costs associated with participating in ‘Young Voices 2025’ and these are outlined below:

‘Young Voices 2024’ T-Shirt - £15
All children will be provided with a white choir t-shirt to wear on the day of the performance.
‘Young Voices’ tickets for parents / carers / siblings wishing to attend the concert - £24 per ticket PLUS personal travel to Sheffield Arena. You will need to place your own ticket orders via the Young Voices shop. Tickets are subject to availability. The deadline for your orders is 31st October but tickets may sell out before this date. Book early to avoid disappointment.

Implementation
- Long term planning that is carefully tailored to the curriculum drivers whilst completing the National Curriculum Programme of study.
- The model curriculum for music is used as a basis alongside the key knowledge we wish for the children to achieve. This follows the process of tacit, procedural and declarative.
- Planning is differentiated by year groups in our mixed age classes and where appropriate consolidates skills in English and mathematical knowledge.
- Our curriculum has 3 golden threads; singing, percussion and composition which is weaved through the year groups.
- Specific vocabulary teaching within lessons which is developed and progressed through the year groups.
- Specialist music teachers e.g. violin
- Regular church services and singing opportunities.
- Class productions that focus on singing alongside competitions.
- Specialist music and drama teacher.
- Children will learn to play an instrument.
